    Dr. Kevin Dale McAfee

    Early Life & Education

    From the University of Oklahoma, where Kevin attended the President's Leadership Class as a scholar, Dr. McAfee would become one of the "Hall of Famers" from his high school in Northwest Oklahoma City — Putnam City West. He was recognized at an early age as a leader, involved in Democratic politics under Governor George Nigh and later Governor David Boren. He was recruited by James Garner and Rance Howard — Ron Howard's father — as two former alumni helping students from the college out in Los Angeles.

    Disney & NEST Entertainment

    Disney had interns in the Burbank Studios, where Kevin began his professional trade. Soon, he would be called as a young leader to NEST Entertainment as Senior Vice President. At NEST, he was engaged in developing the film The Swan Princess (New Line Cinema), his first feature film in the box office. The company was also producing Animated Stories of the Bible, Animated Hero Classics, and other continuity-based franchises. The expertise gained at Disney and NEST had Dr. McAfee closing hundreds of licensing deals and building broad skills across motion pictures.

    Warner Bros., Music & Publishing

    Kevin was engaged by Lt. Governor Mary Fallin to oversee the launch of the Warner Bros. film Twister, starring Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt. After leaving his post as studio president at NEST, he worked with sixteen recording labels on mergers and acquisitions for Sparrow, EMI, and beyond. Twenty-four publishers engaged his firm through the ECPA, the CBA, and the GMA, and he was invited to serve as their first inaugural film commissioner. As a leader, he was recruited by a billion-dollar corporation to become CEO of a new film company under the Hobby Lobby umbrella.

    Award-Winning Films & Coaching

    As a studio leader, he completed two award-winning films, Beyond the Gates of Splendor and End of the Spear, with Fox. He was later awarded two honorary doctorates from the Latin University of Theology, in Philosophy and Civil Rights — philanthropic passions rooted in a character study he created called Character Quality. While focused on coaching character, Head Men's Basketball Coach Bob Hoffman recruited him to coach his Division One basketball teams. For twenty-six years, Kevin invested his life in helping college athletes build a foundation of strength, truth, and character.

    Veritas Mission Film Association & The Maisha Project

    Dr. McAfee founded Veritas Mission Film Association, a non-profit helping groups share their stories. This work led him to build an organization focused on Civil Rights, and his partnership with VMFA is now known as the Maisha Project (MaishaProject.org). Maisha is Swahili for "life," and the organization is an orphanage based three hours north of Nairobi, Kenya. Because of this partnership, over ten thousand children are fed every single day across twenty-seven schools.

    Legacy & Current Work

    He received a Lifetime Achievement Award at Disney Studios, where he began his early work, in 2015. From this historic path, he is still writing screenplays, making pictures, and using the visual language of film to impact culture. Dr. McAfee has worked with five motion picture studios and continues to serve as counsel to many groups on their intellectual properties. He invests in mentoring a handful of students who are making a difference through storytelling, recently helping launch the film school at Lipscomb University under Dean Mike Fernandez. Kevin has also renewed a partnership with lifelong friend and former Motown artist Tim Miner. His latest film is More Than Champions, created alongside award-winning executive producer Jag Gholson — his partner at Oceania Studios, together with his wife, Lynn Dean McAfee.

    Family & Ongoing Impact

    Between Lynn and Kevin, they have five children and ten grandchildren. Dr. McAfee is a featured speaker, narrator, and leader in cultural impact in Africa, serving as special counsel to Dr. Clyde Rivers, working in Burundi, Africa.

    Dr. McAfee's latest work, More Than Champions, is currently in production at Oceania Studios.
